The Department of Library & Information Sciences proudly announces its 35 years of existence and continued growth and successfully trained 34 batched of M.L.I.Sc. There is a general decline in the quantum of applications to different post-graduate courses, yet Library & Information Course still enjoys the demand ratio of 1:10.In the last five years (2002-2007), 125 M.L.I.Sc. Graduates have been awarded the degree and 5 scholars have been with Ph. D.degree in Library & Information Science. At present,8 scholars (7 Indian & 1 Foreign) are pursuing their course for Ph.D degree in Library & Information Science.

Master of Library & Information Science (M.L.I.Sc.) is a much sought after course. Our graduates have 100% employment opportunity. They have been into corporate sector, NGOs, R&D organizations, banks, media libraries, private college libraries, government college libraries and public libraries too!. This course encompasses many other disciplines like Computer Science, Telecommunications Technology, information Technology along with Human Resources Management aspects in handling information and knowledge. The course is unique and on par with national standards of UGC. It offers equal emphasis on IT applications in social sciences, science & technology, medicine and business information systems. Medicine and business information systems. In order to inculcate scientific temperament and critical thinking among the post graduates, small project works, practical work experience in other libraries, dissertation, etc. are incorporated in the curriculum. The curriculum would be revised once in every 3 years in consultation with employers in different fields and alumni
